Shining a light on the Beacon Awards

This year at our annual meeting in November, we will be announcing the winner of the 3rd annual PRSA Boston Beacon Awards.

The official criteria are that it: "recognizes extraordinary achievement by an individual, either working in the public relations industry or from the general business (either for-profit or not-for-profit) community. The purpose of the “PRSA Boston Beacon Award” is to recognize an individual who has furthered the standing of the public relations profession through professional practice and personal relations as well as through betterment of the community."

The deadline is fast approaching but there is still time to act. Click on the title above to be taken to the award submission page. The deadline is November 3.

The competition is always tough and I hope we have more entries this year. I look forward to joining you in recognizing our 2006 recipient at our annual meeting on November 15.

The International Conference is Coming!

Just a reminder...the PRSA International Conference is coming up in a few weeks (Nov 11-13) in Salt Lake City. I will be speaking at it and encourage all of you who have been thinking about attending to come (and it has nothing to do with my speech). The topics look great and it should be an enjoyable few days.

I will try to post some updates from the conference for those of you that can not make it. I am heading out a few days early to visit my brother who lives in Salt Lake.

In conclusion - consider attending, great topics, great people and great professional development opportunities.

Welcome

Good evening. Welcome to the first of many blog posts about PRSA Boston. I am looking forward to our annual meeting on November 15. For more details, go to www.prsaboston.org.

For those that do know me, my name is Mark McClennan. I am currently president-elect for PRSA Boston, one of the largest PRSA chapters in the nation.

I am starting this blog as a way to help keep our members better informed about activities as well as share some of the excitement of our events with those who can't make them.
